H-90 5-2 AT USA BASEBALL 16U NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!

For the second straight year, H-90 sent a squad to Peoria/Surprise, AZ for the USA Baseball 16u National Championships.  The club started out fast on opening day, defeating the N.W. Lumberjacks by a score of 9-2 before squeaking out an 11-9 win over USA Select Baseball.  The next two games saw our boys fall to ABD Baseball, 11-3 and Conejo Oaks, 11-1.  H-90 then rebounded with a solid 7-3 victory over the Houston Heat to finish 3-2 in pool play.  Unfortunately, we finished 33rd in the 72 team field falling short of the 32-team championship round by virtue of one run extra run allowed.  The team then finished up the tournament with an 8-7 win over Golden Triangle of Texarkana and a 15-3 victory against the Liberty Lions of San Diego.  Coach Rick Sundberg reported that overall the team played well and noted, "We had a tough draw.  All our opponents finished in the top half of the 72 teams and even our two lopsided losses were close most of the game."  On their day off the entire team took in an Arizona Diamonback/Texas Rangers game at Chase Field.  Congratulations to all our athletes for their fine showing in Arizona!

PLAYER / PARENT SUPPORT GUIDELINES

The coaching staff at Hard 90 Baseball Academy would like to thank the players and parents for their dedication to our program. Travel baseball is a unique experience that is far different from little leagues or rec leagues. The goal of our coaching staff is to prepare our players for high school baseball and beyond. Our coaching staff has over 200 years of playing and coaching experience at high school, junior college, division one and professional baseball levels.

To help us in the development process of our program, we need the total dedication and support of our players and parents. Hard 90 provides quality instruction, guest speakers, workouts and tournaments throughout the year that gives our players numerous opportunities to get better year around. The tournaments provide valuable game experience to our players before they reach the high school level.

Here are some guidelines that will help in the development of our players and program:

  1. Please be on time. Coaches prepare pregame practice plans as well as workout plans that will be disrupted if players are late.
  2. Please call and let us know if you can't attend a practice or game. Our coaches expect all our players to be at each workout or practice. Missing games or workouts will delay the developement process of that individual. The schedule months ahead of time and very rarely do we change the schedule. Being absent will tell us or your high school team the dedication you have to your program.
  3. Encourage your son to work on baseball at home. To get better, players have to work on something everyday.
  4. Don't pressure your son in games. The experience is about the journey not the destination.
  5. Cheer for the team!
  6. Don't coach from the stands! We are constantly coaching our players throughout practices and games. You will interfere with his development and most likely embarrass your son.
  7. Set up an appointment with the director if you need input on the developement of your son. This is a good way to communicate and shows respect to the program and your son.
  8. Have Fun... Have Fun... Have Fun!!!!!!
  9. Be totally committed and dedicated to Hard 90 Baseball!!!
