Phenom Premier are 2010 Cooperstown Champions Thursday, August 12

HARD 90 PHENOM PREMIER AMAZING COOPERSTOWN TOURNAMENT WIN!!!!

The Hard 90 Phenom Premier are winners of the Cooperstown Dreams Park 103-team 12u national tournament (week #10).  They did it in fairytale fashion capped off by an amazing come-from-behind 8 to 7 victory in the championship game against the tough and talented Las Vegas Warriors Red.  Down 7-1 in the bottom of the 5th, they launched 4 home runs (back-to-back-to-back, then 3-run blast) to take a narrow one-run lead and held on.  This prestigious tournament was held August 8th through August 12th in a surreal setting just 3 miles south of the birthplace of baseball and the Hall of Fame.  The title game actually ended the next day at 1:15am due to a three and a half hour rain delay before their semi-final thumping of 3 and 2 Baseball from Florida (15-5 win).  During their week's play in New York, the Phenom Premier went a perfect 11-0 facing teams from nine different states (Pennsylvania, Washington, Connecticut, Virginia, Nevada, New Jersey, Illinois, California, Florida) and scored a total of 163 runs.  Overall they slugged out 50 home runs and following pool play of six games, they were seeded 10th overall.  Congratulations to our squad and we look forward to our other Phenom team performing well in New York also at the end of August.  Thanks to all our families for their trust and support in this awesome annual trip, it was definitely a team effort.  Below are the names and hometowns of our champions, congratulations to them once again!

PLAYER / PARENT SUPPORT GUIDELINES

The coaching staff at Hard 90 Baseball Academy would like to thank the players and parents for their dedication to our program. Travel baseball is a unique experience that is far different from little leagues or rec leagues. The goal of our coaching staff is to prepare our players for high school baseball and beyond. Our coaching staff has over 200 years of playing and coaching experience at high school, junior college, division one and professional baseball levels.

To help us in the development process of our program, we need the total dedication and support of our players and parents. Hard 90 provides quality instruction, guest speakers, workouts and tournaments throughout the year that gives our players numerous opportunities to get better year around. The tournaments provide valuable game experience to our players before they reach the high school level.

Here are some guidelines that will help in the development of our players and program:

  1. Please be on time. Coaches prepare pregame practice plans as well as workout plans that will be disrupted if players are late.
  2. Please call and let us know if you can't attend a practice or game. Our coaches expect all our players to be at each workout or practice. Missing games or workouts will delay the developement process of that individual. The schedule months ahead of time and very rarely do we change the schedule. Being absent will tell us or your high school team the dedication you have to your program.
  3. Encourage your son to work on baseball at home. To get better, players have to work on something everyday.
  4. Don't pressure your son in games. The experience is about the journey not the destination.
  5. Cheer for the team!
  6. Don't coach from the stands! We are constantly coaching our players throughout practices and games. You will interfere with his development and most likely embarrass your son.
  7. Set up an appointment with the director if you need input on the developement of your son. This is a good way to communicate and shows respect to the program and your son.
  8. Have Fun... Have Fun... Have Fun!!!!!!
  9. Be totally committed and dedicated to Hard 90 Baseball!!!

2010 16u Team at National Championships in Arizona Friday, July 2

14u AND 16u TEAMS COMPETE WELL IN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Congratulations to our Slam 14u and Command 16u teams for a very successful showing at the recent USA Baseball National Championships.  Both events were held at the Spring Training sites of the Dodgers, White Sox, Mariners, Padres, Rangers and Royals in Arizona.  Our Slam 14u's recovered from a slow start to finish an even 3-3 for the tournament, outscoring their last two opponents by 19-4.  During their six games, our hard hitting squad pushed across a total of 45 runs but they needed to tighten up their defense and get used to the Arizona heat.  On the other hand, our Hard 90 Command 16u's played great "D" and combined very good pitching all tournament long to finish 18th out of 72 teams after five games of pool play.  They were the first H-90 to make the playoffs since our entrance into the tournament 3 years ago (last year's talented squad just missed the playoffs by one run).  They finished a very respectable 4-3, beating the Northwest Timberjacks by a score of 10-5 on their final day of the week-long competition.  This was definitely an event to build confidence for both teams, knowing they can compete with the best of any team in the Western United States.  Thanks to all our parents for all their support to make this a great annual event, H-90 is now a staple with USA Baseball!
