HEAT PREMIER 10u TAKES HOME TITLE - TEAMS PLAY WELLThe Heat Premier 10u had a successful weekend, capturing the crown at the Super Series Presidents' Day Qualifier. The club went 2-2 in pool play, defeating Bulldog Baseball, 9-0, and the Davis Wolf Pack, 11-0, while dropping one-run games to the Elk Grove Thunder and Bret's Muckdogs. In Monday's semifinal, they again beat Bulldog Baseball and subsequently got revenge on the top seeded Thunder in the championship game, winning 7-1. At the same event, our Phenom Blue 12u went 1-2 in the seeding round, including a nice 11-5 win over the Reno Blue Devils. In their opening playoff game, the team again took care of the Blue Devils, 11-5, before falling to the eventual tournament champion Elk Grove Longhorns. The Rally 13u finished 2-1 in pool play with wins over the River City Outlaws and Bret's Muckdogs Black to earn the 4th seed in the 14-team bracket going into Monday. Unfortunately, the club came out flat in their initial playoff tilt and were defeated by the FEBA Rookies. At the USSSA Super N.I.T. the Cycle 9u finished 2-1 in early play with wins over the Tassajara Valley Bulldogs and Junior Cardinals but lost their first playoff game to the NorCal Titans. The Heat 10u (AAA division) came out of the gate fast, beating the DBA Crushers 11-4 and the Junior Cardinals 10-3 but lost their next two games to just miss making the playoffs. The Pastime Premier 11u defeated the Eastlake Titans and Bombers Baseball and lost to the San Jose Pit Bulls in pool play. In Monday's semifinal, the team was defeated by Club All Star, 7-3. The Pastime 11u (AAA Division) went 1-2 in the opening round, beating the DBA Crushers, 8-7. The team missed the playoffs but won Monday's consolation game. The Phenom Premier 12u went 4-0 in pool play beating Cabernet Baseball, Eastlake Titans, San Jose Spartans and West Coast Federals by a combined score of 45-19. In the quarterfinal contest the club played flawlessly in beating the Knuckleheads, 8-0. However, in the semifinals, the team gave up a late lead, losing to the Slammers (tournament champions), 7-6, in heartbreaking fashion. The Phenom 12u playing well in the same bracket, finished 2-2 playing well in pool play defeating the Headfirst Gamers and California Knights but just missed reaching the next round. Finally, the Rally Premier 13u had a tough draw and finished 1-2 on Saturday and Sunday, beating the Alcatraz Boyz, 6-3. In the quarterfinals, they were eliminated by Cabernet Baseball. All in all it was a great weekend of baseball under favorable weather conditions for all ten of our teams that competed over Presidents' Day Weekend. |
